1 lb Italian sausage
1 cup chopped onion
1 jar roasted redpeppers
1 pkg frozen spinach
1 cup flour
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 tsp basil

8 eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup shredded Provolone cheese

In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is no longer pink, drain if necessary. Transfer to a greased 3 qt baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the peppers and all of the spinach. Combine flour, Parmesan cheese, basil and salt in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl combine milk and eggs, add to dry ingredients and mix well. Pour over spinach mixture. Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle with provolone cheese and rest of the red peppers. Bake 2 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Yield: 6
Ingredients
1/2 cup of butter, softened
3 egg whites
1 cup icing sugar
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
A variety of hand written or typed fortunes that are about one quarter inch by 2 inch.
1 empty egg carton

Directions
1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2.Place the first 6 ingredients into a bowl and beat with a wooden spoon until smooth. Stir in flour.
3.Let the batter rest for about half hour.
4.Drop a teaspoon of batter onto a lined baking sheet and using the back of a spoon, spread very thinly into a 4-inch circle. Repeat so there are 2 circles on the baking sheet. Bake until it just begins to get golden in colour, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from oven, and while still hot, place a paper fortune across the centre of the cookie. Fold up the edges so that it forms a semi circle, and almost simultaneously, fold down the sides of the semi-circle to create an upside down u. Place in an empty egg carton and let harden. Repeat with the rest of the batter.

How can the trappings of the evil office party be avoided? Here are some party planning and etiquette tips that hopefully will help you survive. Merry Christmas!

Ø Set a date and time for the office party that is convenient for all involved. Try not to make it on a date when there is other important business commitments.

Ø Select an alternative location for the party if it is decided not to have the party at the office.

Ø Determine how the office party will be financed and/or sponsored.

Ø Choose a party theme. This can be helpful in deciding food choices and atmosphere.

Ø Send out a memo at least three weeks in advance. If the Christmas party is being held away from the office, send out invitations at least three weeks in advance. Make sure a RSVP date is included on the invitation.

Ø Arrange for a high school band or madrigal choir to play/sing Christmas carols during the party.

Ø Have the employees to donate gifts to a charitable organization and collect these at the party instead of exchanging gifts.



Ø Try an indoor carnival with proceeds going to a charity.

Ø Plan a volunteer activity with a local charity.

Ø Have employees display their talent through funny skits and/or musical selections.

Ø Have the employees decide whether or not they want to have a party or donate the money that would be used for the party to a charitable organization instead.

Ø If there is an evening party planned and alcohol is served, make sure that arrangements are made for taxis to take people home or arrange a designated driver system.

Ø Make sure there is enough help for the party. If catered, determine what assistance will be needed.

Ø Make sure there are plenty of alternative, non-alcoholic beverages available.

Ø Because remembering guests and spouses names is difficult, festive nametags should be provided to help reduce the faux pas of forgetting names.

Ø If the party is being held in a non-smoking building, make sure to make accommodations for smokers.

Ø Consider making two punch bowls, one with alcohol and one without alcohol. Keep the non-alcohol bowl constantly full.

Ø Have a potluck party making a sign-up list of what is needed to prevent duplications.

This is a rendition of the Motown song "Give Love on Christmas Day". I actually had NEVER heard this song before the day I went in to record it. My producer Jeremy said he had a special treat planned for me and he played me the track he had done and gave me the lyric sheet. I listened to a version by the Jackson Five and then went right on the mic to record. Jeremy does that to me sometimes! LOL Get on the mic and SANG girl, he says! LOL Anyway, I really was nervous about recording a song I was not familiar with, but I think it turned out great and I LOVE the sentiment of this song. So enjoy it and remember that love is the MOST precious GIFT you can give!

I'm sorry I have no video for this song... it's from my 2003 Christmas album 'A Cool Christmas' which has now been sold out. It was a limited issue item.

Holiday 2010 Cocktails: How to Make Hot Buttered Rum | Pottery Barn



Peter Gugni, Master Mixologist for Bacardi brands, demonstrates how to make hot buttered run and explains what makes it so perfect for the winter months.

In Pottery Barn double old fashioned glass mix:
1 ¼ parts Bacardi Gold Rum
½ tsp melted butter
1 tsp sugar
1 pinch of cloves

Just top off with hot water, stir to mix, and garnish with a fresh lemon peel.

The combination of the oak from the rum, the spice from the cloves and the warmth of the drink makes for a very enjoyable holiday cocktail.

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a super fast, super easy Mexican Meat and Cheese Dip. And--it is delicious with tortilla chips!

Ingredients:

1/2 pound lean ground beef
1/4 pound ground pork sausage (I use sage flavored.)
1 pound cheese spread, cut into cubes (I used Velveeta.)
1 cup salsa from a jar (I used mild.)
fresh minced cilantro for topping (optional)
restaurant-style tortilla chips for dipping

In a large, deep skillet, brown the 1/2 pound ground beef with the 1/4 pound ground sausage. Pour off any excess fat. Add 1 pound of cheese spread, cut into cubes, and 1 cup salsa. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cheese melts. Use kitchen shears to mince some fresh cilantro over the top, if desired. Serve immediately with tortilla chips for dipping! This couldn't be faster, easier, or tastier!!!

Homemade Christmas Cookies aka Lebkuchen

For the dough you need:
375g Honey
500g flour
185g Sugar
2 Eggs
candied lemon peel
candied orange peel
1 lemon (peel)
150g Almonds (shredded)
150g Walnut (shredded)
15g Natron
1Sp Kakao
Cinnamon
Clove
Kirschwasser (Schnaps)

Icing/Glazing
Sugar Powder
Water

1) Melt Honey (it should be really hot!)
2) Add flour (dough should be really sticky)
3) Stir eggs and sugar really creamy
4) Put everything together (+ rest of incridents)
5) Let the dough rest for an hour (fridge)
6) Put the dough on a baking tray (fingerthick)
7) Bake it in the oven for 15mi (180°C=356F)
8) Cut it while it is still hot
9) Glaze it (SugarPowder-Water-Mix)

Tis the season to be merry, but with the economic crunch and a long list of gifts needed for neighbors, friends, and teachers, consumers budgets are stretched. Texas Oncology has developed a free recipe for Jingle Jam, an easy-to-make, Southern-style preserve that combines healthful cranberries, citrus, jalapenos. This recipe, full of cancer-fighting ingredients, is sure to please everyone on gift lists and around holiday tables while leaving you some change to jingle in your pockets.

In Texas alone, more than 90,000 people the fourth-highest incidence in the nation are diagnosed each year with cancer, some of which could have been prevented with proper diet. Jingle Jams combination of wholesome cranberries, citrus, and jalapenos should serve as a reminder of the variety of cancer-protective ingredients that can easily be incorporated into the everyday diet.

Cranberries, for example, are a powerful source of flavonoids, a family of phytonutrients with antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, and grapefruit contain vitamin C, folate and fiber all essential to a cancer-protective diet. Jalapenos are loaded with vitamins A and C, and contain a phytochemical called capsaicin, which has been shown to benefit individuals with prostate cancer . Pectin is a gelling agent that may block cancer growth, and is a natural product of most fruits, though it may be purchased commercially. Jingle Jam utilizes the natural pectin in cranberries for a pleasing consistency.

Texans come together for the holidays to enjoy friends, family, and good food. Its easy to make the holiday table merry and bright with Jingle Jam, while feeling good about it. Versatile and delicious, Jingle Jam which uses less sugar than a typical jam makes a delectable addition to the holiday bird, but also as a glaze for steamed carrots or roasted pork loin. Best ever English apple book back in print!!!

'The English Apple' by Rosanne Sanders is back in print! It is now titled 'The Apple Book' by Rosie Sanders, but as far as I can tell (let the buyer take care) it is the very same book. It is our favourite apple book by a mile.

Our well used 1998 copy is a bit worn and we no longer take it out of the house except once a year for our Apple Day event to use to help identify apples. I saw a copy on Ebay recently, bidding was at £90. Amazon are selling it HALF PRICE as a special offer, only £12.50. I have ordered 2 copies, one to use, one to wrap up and lock away in a safe place for the future.

I cannot possibly recommend this book too highly to anyone who loves the English apple. Worth buying for the gorgeous watercolour pictures alone, then you have to add the historical and other details for each fruit. It would also be worth buying for the text and diagrams which contain pretty much all you will ever need to know about apple growing.

This is a good day for the English apple. Anyone who wants to buy a Christmas present for a loved one who is a gardener-problem solved!

The ingredients are:

2 x 375g bags dark chocolate melts
3 x 100g bags glacé cherries
sweet sherry

2 x 375g bags white chocolate melts
12 x large candy canes
1/2 lid peppermint essence

Sorry about my arm getting in the way sometimes. I have a tiny kitchen and it is hard to find a place to put my camera. Also, the sun went down while I was filming so it gets dark at the end. I'll have to work out how to get my camera to film well while I'm inside.

You can turn it into a banana nut bread recipe by simply adding about a cup of gourmet black walnuts, which make the tastiest addition over traditional walnuts.

This recipe came from a bed and breakfast in the California mountains, and the secret to its moistness comes from sour cream!

It's an old fashioned banana bread that you can easily picture coming from your grandma's kitchen.

Ingredients:
Four large ripe bananas (or six small)
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 tablespoons sour cream

Mix dry ingredients together and sift. In a mixing bowl, cream softened butter with the sugar and salt. Mix in eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Mix until just blended.

Add flour mix to the batter. When making banana bread, use ripe soft bananas. Mash into bowl and add into mixture.

Spray a Bundt pan with cooking spray or grease with fresh butter. Pour batter into pan. Bake in preheated 350 F for 1 hour. If a toothpick comes out clean, its done.

Sour cream is the secret ingredient to this banana breads moist texture.

My wife and I have tried several banana bread recipes through the years and this is definitely our favorite. Give it a try. Youll be glad you did!

The infamous Christmas office party is often viewed with impending doom. It's reputation often precedes itself and has resulted in the end of many a career. How can the trappings of the evil office party be avoided? Here are some party planning and etiquette tips that hopefully will help you survive. Merry Christmas!

Ø Set a date and time for the office party that is convenient for all involved. Try not to make it on a date when there is other important business commitments.

Ø Select an alternative location for the party if it is decided not to have the party at the office.

Ø Determine how the office party will be financed and/or sponsored.

Ø Choose a party theme. This can be helpful in deciding food choices and atmosphere.

Ø Send out a memo at least three weeks in advance. If the Christmas party is being held away from the office, send out invitations at least three weeks in advance. Make sure a RSVP date is included on the invitation.

Ø Plan some activities for the party (e.g. games, entertainment, gift giving, etc.).

Ø Have breakfast or lunch instead of an evening office party. This can allow employees to include their families in the festivities.

Ø Have a brunch in a restaurant instead of an on-premise office party. Allow for dancing following the meal.

Ø Arrange for a high school band or madrigal choir to play/sing Christmas carols during the party.

Ø Have the employees to donate gifts to a charitable organization and collect these at the party instead of exchanging gifts.

Ø Try an indoor carnival with proceeds going to a charity.

Ø Plan a volunteer activity with a local charity.

Ø Have employees display their talent through funny skits and/or musical selections.

Ø Have the employees decide whether or not they want to have a party or donate the money that would be used for the party to a charitable organization instead.

Ø If there is an evening party planned and alcohol is served, make sure that arrangements are made for taxis to take people home or arrange a designated driver system.

Ø Make sure there is enough help for the party. If catered, determine what assistance will be needed.

Ø Make sure there are plenty of alternative, non-alcoholic beverages available.

Ø Because remembering guests and spouses names is difficult, festive nametags should be provided to help reduce the faux pas of forgetting names.

Ø If the party is being held in a non-smoking building, make sure to make accommodations for smokers.

Ø Consider making two punch bowls, one with alcohol and one without alcohol. Keep the non-alcohol bowl constantly full.

Ø Have a potluck party making a sign-up list of what is needed to prevent duplications.

just wondering is it going to be a white christmas this year, i know people always like to predict a white christmas, and what it will be like on christmas day, if last year was anything to go by then the answer is definitely yes to a white christmas in 2010.

last year was more then white it was one of the worst christmassy weather in many years, not just christmas but but more mess, when it came to the roads and the snow and the ice, most weeks through christmas last year and earlier this year the roads and rail and airports where shut down due to severe weather, it was good if you liked lots of snow though.

i think it could be very snowy again this year with lots of snow and possible another white christmas again.
